zion

entering Zion National Park.
it's raining.
we're tired.
i'm tired. really tired. it's hard to think about hiking right now.
no fires allowed. fire risk is too high
we were tempted to move on
but this is the park Mark wanted to see the most.
we decided to stay.
i'm glad we did. it ended up being so great.

along the journey, mark and i listened to this really really great mystery on tape.
jeffrey deaver. the broken window.
it was really good. there are other books by him, and other books by him on tape.
more to come someday. :)))
we finished the book as we arrived in zion.
the other books on tape that we had really couldn't compare. it was just so good.
we'd be excited whenever we were moving from place to place because we could listen to the tape.
so exciting. we'd pause it at times and try to guess "who did it"which was super fun. highly recommend this.

this was at a nice pizza, pasta joint outside of Zion in Springdale. The town was really cool. good food, nice people, recreation, people were really into rock climbing here. the restaurant had all these cool photos of extreme sports on the walls.

this seemed to be just right

we went on this trail down the "Narrows" it had been raining a lot, so the water was high.
Mark had read about this many times over the years and was psyched to be able to do this.
We only got about a mile down the watery trail, evidently as it continued, you'd have to swim with a walking stick because the water was over your head high. we hadn't prepared that well, as we had our cameras with us, our hiking boots on, i had sweatpants on, not any kind of wet gear, etc.
but i think we'll get back here to do this trail to the end sometime.

this time was very cool too. a new, different adventure from the other hikes we had done, pretty much the perfect thing to do as we ventured back out there on the trail.
